This is Igreja da Memoria - Church or Remembrance, comemorating the failure of an atempt against King Jose's life when returning home after a love encounter with a married noblewoman. Built after Mafra's convent and before Basilica da Estrela in a much smaller size than those, this is one of Lisbon's hidden treasures. For those who have already visited the former it appears as a royal folie: a small church for his delight but with the same delusions of grandeur than Mafra. Delightfull to discover, not far from the the river in a very calm almost rustic environment where time seems to have stoped.
